RAVENJAZZ is a project by Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble — a Lithuanian contemporary jazz collective known for its multi-format line-ups, composer-driven concepts, and boundary-pushing artistic direction.

Perhaps the most radical departure from traditional jazz within the Ensemble’s universe, RAVENJAZZ is a bold collision of rave culture and jazz improvisation. Released in March 2024, the project captures Ensemble’s most experimental impulse: merging the raw physicality of club sound with the freedom and unpredictability of contemporary jazz.

At its core, RAVENJAZZ is powered by a trio of forward-thinking Lithuanian musicians — Jievaras Jasinskis, Domantas Razmus, and Simonas Šipavičius — who expand jazz vocabulary through technology-driven performance. Using sensor-based percussion, loop stations, and live electronic processing, they reshape the concert format itself, turning each show into an immersive, high-intensity sonic environment.

Musically, the project draws from minimal techno, deep house, dark ambient, and experimental electronics, all absorbed into a fluid improvisational framework. RAVENJAZZ challenges jazz purists not for provocation’s sake, but to show that jazz can inhabit new spaces — evolving through rhythm, movement, and collective energy. It is not a crossover; it is a fully formed hybrid.
