TÕNU KARJATSE (EE)

Tonu Karjatse’s main occupation has been radio-journalism in ERR (Estonian Public Broadcasting)  news program. Over 20 years has he been working there as a reporter and news editor, the last ten years focusing on cultural news. Beside of radio, his job includes cultural news section in Estonian Television main news program. Music has been his passion as well as cinema. He has covered for radio, TV and also the main newspapers local music-festivals as Station Narva, Mägede Hääl, Kikumu, Tallinn Music Week, bigger international festivals as Roskilde, Primavera Sound, Hurricane Festival in Scheessel and Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. His interest lies in new currents no matter what are the genres or styles, also he finds it always exciting to follow what happens to the music genres as we know them now. He prefers vinyls to digital and cinema to TV.  Vinyl shops are for him magical caverns, where it’s possible to loose time (and money). For him there is undeniable connection between music and cinema. This year he has given also a course on film history at Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA). Beside of music and films, Tonu has been working at Tallinn’s literary festival Headread on communications and PR.
